
A Gravenhurst motorist is facing charges after officers in Kawartha Lakes allegedly stopped a vehicle travelling at 63 km/h above the posted speed limit on Glenarm Road.
According to the OPP, an officer was patrolling near Palestine Road Saturday (Oct. 3) when a vehicle was reportedly clocked a vehicle driving 143 km/h in the 80-km/h zone.
The 68-year-old driver was charged with race a motor vehicle – excessive speed; drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit; driver fail to surrender licence; use plate not authorized for vehicle and operate a motor vehicle without insurance.
“The accused’s licence is suspended for seven days and the vehicle was towed from the scene, to be impounded for seven days,” reads a media release.
The driver is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Dec. 1.
