Four people were fined for allegedly violating the provincial COVID-19 restrictions during a drive-in concert in Lindsay Thursday (Oct. 1) night.
According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, officers attended the concert around 6:45 p.m. in response to a complaint received from a member of the public that spectators were not abiding by COVID-19 safety regulations.
“Officers patrolled the venue, speaking with guests and organizers to ensure all attendees were aware of the current regulations under the Reopening Ontario Act,” reads a media release.
“Officers reattended the concert just after 9 p.m. and found several people failing to comply with the Act, by congregating outside of their vehicles and drinking.”
Police say that four people were issued Provincial Offence Notices under the Act, which carries a set fine of $880.
“The Kawartha Lakes Police Service encourages any person, business or organization hosting an event to ensure they are aware of all safety regulations under the Reopening Ontario Act, and to also ensure that all guests in attendance are educated about their responsibility to comply with safety protocols,” the media release reads.
