Man suffers serious injuries after crashing ATV while allegedly attempting to flee from police
A 46-year-old man suffered serious injuries after crashing an ATV while allegedly attempting to flee from police in Beaverton Sunday (Sept. 27).

According to the SIU, which is investigating the incident, a DRPS officer in an unmarked police vehicle was in the area of Simcoe Street and Mara Road shortly after midnight when he reportedly observed an ATV that did not have a licence plate.

The driver was also not wearing a helmet, a media release notes.

“The officer asked the 46-year-old driver to pull the ATV over. Instead, the driver attempted to flee and struck the curb, causing the ATV to flip over,” it continues.

“The man was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.”

The SIU has assigned three investigators and two forensic investigators to the case.
“One subject officer and two witness officers have been designated,” the media release reads.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The SIU is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through its website.
