Two COVID-19 cases in Durham schools were actually negative

Two previously confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the Durham District School Board were actually negative.

A media release states that a laboratory error led to the mix-up, which resulted in positive tests at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Public School in Oshawa and Maple Ridge Public School in Pickering (where there are still two active cases).

The Durham Region Health Department had declared an outbreak for half a class at Maple Ridge, due to the staggered start, but that has now been rescinded.

There are currently six confirmed cases within the DDSB – two at Maple Ridge, two at Pine Ridge Secondary School in Pickering and one case at both Nottingham Public School and Lord Elgin Public School in Ajax.
