Twelve new cases of COVID-19 reported at Ontario schools

Twelve new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at Ontario schools, according to the Province.

An update Wednesday morning (Sept. 16) brought the cumulative total to 41 – 18 cases involving staff, 15 involving students and eight involving individuals not identified.

It should be noted that the provincial website lists only once confirmed case within the Durham District School Board, the board’s online reporting tool includes four cases at a pair of schools in Pickering (two at Maple Ridge Public School and two at Pine Ridge Secondary School). The board’s site does not indicate whether the cases involve students or staff.

The provincial website lists one confirmed case within the Simcoe County District School Board (a staff member at Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia) and one within the York Region District School Board (a student at Little Rouge Public School in Markham).

As of Wednesday, no cases have been reported within the Durham Catholic District School Board; the Trillium Lakelands District School Board; the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board or the York Catholic District School Board.
