A Lindsay resident is facing charges after allegedly kicking an officer during a traffic stop for impaired driving.
According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, officers received two reports from concerned citizens about a vehicle that was being operated by an impaired driver shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday (Sept. 14).
Officers reportedly found the vehicle in the area of Durham Street East in Lindsay.
“During the investigation, one officer was assaulted when the driver kicked him,” reads a media release.
Angela Christine Woolacott, 33, has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with a demand and assaulting a peace officer.
She is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Nov. 19.
“Despite the best efforts of our officers, they can’t be everywhere at one time,” the media release reads.
“That is why receiving tips from the public about impaired drivers is so crucial to helping the Kawartha Lakes Police Service keep local roads safe for motorists and pedestrians. If you suspect you see an impaired driver, please let us know by calling 911.”
