Number of COVID-19 cases in Durham hits 2,000

There have now been 2,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Durham Region.

The update from the Durham Region Health Department Tuesday (Sept. 15) includes 17 new cases.

There have been 647 cases in Pickering, 552 in Ajax, 306 in Oshawa, 232 in Whitby, 120 in Clarington, 110 in Uxbridge, 22 in Scugog and 11 in Brock Township.

A total of 83 residents are in home isolation, with two currently hospitalized.

A total of 181 deaths – including 152 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 1,743 cases have been resolved, which represents 87 per cent of the total.
