Motorcylist charged after allegedly being clocked at 158 km/h on Highway 7

A motorcyclist was charged with stunt driving after allegedly being clocked by police travelling at nearly twice the posted speed limit on Highway 7 in Kawartha Lakes.

According to the OPP, an officer was patrolling the highway – near the intersection of Highway 35 – on Wednesday (Sept. 9) when the motorcycle was reportedly observed travelling at 158 km/h in the posted 80-km/h zone.

The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle and charged the driver, a 33-year-old Lindsay resident, with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

“The motorcycle was towed from the scene to be impounded for seven days,” reads a media release.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Dec. 1.
