Five people found dead at scene of Oshawa shooting

Police continue to investigate a shooting that left five people dead in Oshawa early Friday (Sept. 4) morning.

According to the DRPS, officers were dispatched to a home on Parklane Avenue around 1:20 a.m. after receiving numerous reports of gunshots.

“Members of the Tactical Support Unit arrived quickly and entered the residence to find five deceased people inside and one adult female who was alive but suffering from a gunshot wound,” reads a media release.

Police say the 50-year-old female was rushed to hospital, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

“All deceased members were known to each other. Investigators believe the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and no other suspects are outstanding,” the media release reads.

Homicide investigators are now working with the Coroner’s Office to confirm the identities of the deceased.
