A 21-year-old man from Pefferlaw is charged in connection to a sexual assault investigation involving a 14-year-old victim.
According to Durham Regional Police, the suspect contacted the female victim, who was not known to him, through the Snapchat app.
“On two previous occasions, the suspect used the location setting on the app to locate her and attempted to persuade her to go with him. The suspect eventually met up with the victim in Scugog,” reads a media release.
“The suspect, who was operating a blue Subaru, drove the victim to a remote parking lot in Nestleton, where she was sexually assaulted. The victim didn’t suffer any physical injuries and police were contacted.”
Investigators are looking for any witnesses that may have seen the vehicle during this time frame in that location to come forward with any information.

He was held for a bail hearing.
“Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect to ensure that there are no further victims,” the media release reads.
