A youth has been charged and two suspects remain at large after a stabbing in East Gwillimbury, according to police.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday (Aug. 29), York Regional Police officers were called to the area of Doane Road and 2nd Concession for a report of sounds of gunshots. When officers arrived they found a man suffering from stab wounds. The 29-year-old man from the Town of East Gwillimbury was taken to hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say an altercation had occurred at a nearby residence between the victim and three suspects. During the altercation a handgun was discharged by one of the suspects, while another suspect stabbed the victim. Investigators reportedly located a shell casing as well as a kitchen knife at the scene.
One of the suspects was located walking nearby and has been charged, according to police.
A 17-year-old female youth from Toronto is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Two suspects remain at large.
The first suspect is described as a Black male in his 20s wearing all black clothing.
The second suspect is described as a Black male in his 20s wearing all blue clothing.
The investigation is ongoing.
