More than 15,000 illegal cannabis plants seized by police in Kawartha Lakes

A police investigation has led to the seizure of more than 15,000 illegal cannabis plants at a Kawartha Lakes property.

According to the OPP, a search warrant was executed at a rural property — rumoured to be on Kawartha Lakes 36, north of Lindsay — on Thursday (Aug. 27).

Nine persons were detained and some of the items seized included 15,300 cannabis plants as well as cannabis bud, motor vehicles, industrial sized dehumidifiers, generators and a riding lawnmower.

“The property featured a very structured growing site that was being operated outside of the Health Canada regulations. The investigation is ongoing,” a media release reads.

No information has been released on potential arrests or charges.
