Three men facing charges after police allegedly uncover loaded handgun, drugs during traffic stop in Orillia

Three men are facing charges after police allegedly uncovered a loaded handgun and drugs during a traffic stop.

According to the OPP, officers stopped the vehicle on Old Barrie Road around 12:45 a.m. on Friday (Aug. 24).

“Officers conducted a drug investigation where grounds were formed to arrest the occupants of the vehicle for possession of a controlled substance,” reads a media release.

Upon further search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located a loaded handgun.

The three occupants of the vehicle – 23-year-old Emmanuel Atwima, 22-year old Kevin Ohrah and 45-year-old Brady Blackmore – have each been charged with careless storage of a firearm; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon; occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was an unauthorized or prohibited weapon inside; possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; possession of counterfeit currency; and possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

“In addition to these charges, numerous breaches of court orders were also laid in connection to this traffic stop,” the media release reads.

All three suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
