A Peterborough man is facing a handful of charges – including sexual assault, kidnapping and assault – following an incident in Jackson Park.
According to the Peterborough Police Service, a woman was allegedly assaulted by an unknown man on the Trans-Canada Trail near Atkinson Road in Jackson Park around 9:30 a.m. Monday (Aug. 17).
“The victim was taken to a local hospital with reported minor injuries. The incident was reported to police and officers attended the area. A short time later the male suspect was located and brought into custody,” reads a media release.
Corby Charles Dewitt, 29, of McDonnel Street in Peterborough has been charged with sexual assault, kidnapping, uttering threats to cause death, assault and choking to overcome resistance.
He has been held in custody pending a hearing on Tuesday (Aug. 18).
