Orillia woman facing charges following fiery crash in Muskoka

An Orillia woman is facing a number of charges following a fiery collision in Georgian Bay Township Friday (Aug. 14).

According to the OPP, officers were called around noon after a vehicle crashed into a rock cut on Muskoka Road 34 (White Falls Road).

Police say the driver and a passenger fled the scene, leaving behind two others in the burning vehicle before firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze.

“The driver and passenger were located nearby with the assistance of OPP Central Region K-9 and community-minded citizens,” reads a media release.

The alleged driver was arrested at the scene, while the three others were taken to hospital for treatment.

Michelle Elizabeth Racioppa, 25, has been charged with three counts of operation causing bodily harm, operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm.

She was released on an undertaking and will appear in Midland court on Oct. 15.
