A 21-year-old Whitby man has been arrested in connection to a vision attack that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
According to the DRPS, the suspect was identified after a security video was released.
He was arrested in Ottawa on Thursday (Aug. 13).
“The suspect was not known to the victim and police believe this was a random incident,” reads a media release.
Officers were initially called to the area of Taunton Road East and Anderson Street around 10:30 a.m. on July 29 after the woman was located near a creek.
“She had multiple, serious injuries consistent with an assault. The victim is currently in critical condition in hospital,” a media release reads.
Anthony Doiron-Francis of Whitby has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault.
He was held for a bail hearing.
