Two Beaverton beaches posted by the health department this week

Heading into the weekend, four public beaches – including two in Beaverton – have been posted as unsafe for swimming by the Durham Region Health Department.

The list includes Beaverton south beach and Thorah Centennial Park, as well as Frenchmen’s Bay West in Pickering and Lakeview Beach East in Oshawa.

Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Elgin Pond in Uxbridge was not tested this week due to blue green algae, a media release notes.
