After laying multiple charges last weekend, OPP officers in Kawartha Lakes are reminding boaters to do their part to keep waterways safe.
The marine unit patrolled Balsam Lake, Canal Lake and Sturgeon Lake last weekend, charging three persons with having open alcohol in the boat as well as one person for having cannabis readily available.
“The OPP would like to remind boaters that impaired boating carries the same penalties as impaired operation of a vehicle,” reads a media release.
“Boating safety is a shared responsibility that includes leaving intoxicants on shore and wearing your life jacket.”
Marine unit officers, in Kawartha Lakes and Durham, will be back on patrol for the long weekend.
