Police officer in Kawartha Lakes helps revive victim of drug overdose

A police officer may have saved a life while responding to a report about a possible drug overdose Wednesday (July 29).

According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, a constable found an unconscious person without any vital signs and after assessing the situation, administered Naloxone to the person.

“The person began breathing and was treated further by the Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service,” reads a media release.

“Under Canada’s Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act, if you seek medical help for yourself or for someone else who has overdosed, neither of you will be charged for possession or using drugs.”
