A large grass fire near Cannington was extinguished within an hour Monday (July 27).
According to Brock Township Fire Chief Rick Harrison, more than a dozen firefighters responded to the blaze, which broke out on a 20-acre field of cut wheat on Thorah Concession 1 early in the afternoon.
Chief Harrison credited the property owner for his assistance, which included use of a water truck and making a firebreak to prevent it from spreading further.
He also thanked Cannington resident Olga Kuzmich for dropping off two cases of water for firefighters.
