A 66-year-old man from Scugog has been charged after allegedly stabbing his wife in a domestic incident in Port Perry Tuesday (July 14) night.
According to the DRPS, officers were called to a residence near Chimney Hill Way and Old Simcoe Road in Port Perry around 10:30 p.m.
“The suspect had assaulted and stabbed his wife prior to police arrival. The female was located under a vehicle with substantial injuries and stab wounds,” reads a media release.
The victim was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma hospital.
“She is currently in hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition,” the media release reads.
Officers arrested the man without incident. Police say he was also taken to a local hospital for injuries that he sustained during the domestic incident and was released shortly after.
The suspect – whose name has not been released to protect the identity of the victim – has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
