The Township of Brock has been working hard on plans to reopen our beaches. Effective today (Monday, July 6), all Township of Brock beaches are now open, as well as the Beaverton Harbour Park and kayak dock for Brock residents and property owners only.
The Beaverton Harbour Park (beach area, picnic shelter and splashpad) area will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and you will require a pass to access the area. The splashpad will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and there will be a maximum of 15 persons permitted at a time. Residents are encouraged to go ONLINE and apply for their pass to access the Beaverton Harbour. An FAQ related to this pass is available here.
The Township kindly asks you to avoid overcrowding of our beaches. Be courteous, ensure physical distancing and if there is not sufficient space to permit physical distancing, we ask that you leave and come back another time so that we can keep our beaches open for you to enjoy! In addition, open fires and/or barbeques are not permitted on any public beach.
In addition, the Township would like to remind residents to do their part in helping to STOP the spread of COVID-19 by doing the following:
– Practice physical distancing;
– Stay home if you are sick;
– Avoid touching surfaces;
– Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer;
– Follow guidance on group gatherings; and,
– Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible.
As a reminder, the Township Municipal Administration Building is open but closed to visitors as we take measures to protect our staff and the public. It is operating with skeleton staff, with the majority of staff working from home. We continue to offer many of our services and staff are available to assist you via email or phone during our regular office hours, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Township continues to review updates from the Provincial government and information from the Durham Region Health Department to assess their local impact, as well as time to develop and implement plans to safely reopen amenities.
