Alleged impaired driver also charged with street racing and having cannabis available

An Ajax man is facing charges after allegedly travelling more than 60-km/h faster than the posted speed limit while impaired.

According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, an officer was on patrol on Elm Tree Road Sunday (July 5) around 1:30 a.m. and stopped a vehicle for speeding 142 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

“During the course of the investigation it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol and was arrested for impaired driving and a small quantity of cannabis was also located,” reads a media release.

Christopher Brown, 56, of Bryant Road has been charged with impaired operation, race a motor vehicle, speeding and driving with cannabis readily available.

The vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
