South beach in Beaverton posted by the health department

While public beaches in Brock are slated to reopen Monday (July 6), residents may want to wait a bit before taking a dip at Beaverton’s south beach.

That location is the only one in Durham to be posted by the health department this week.

“Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water,” the notice from the Durham Region Health Department reads.

Elgin Pond in Uxbridge was not tested this week due to blue green algae, the release also notes.
