A Stouffville teen is dead and two others are recovering in hospital following a single-vehicle collision Tuesday (June 30) night.
According to the DRPS, officers were called to the scene on Webb Road, near York-Durham line, around 11:15 p.m.
“A grey Hyundai Santa Fe was travelling westbound on Webb Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway, striking a large tree,” reads a media release.
“All three occupants of the Santa Fe were transported to a Toronto trauma centre.”
An 18-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The 17-year-old male driver received serious injuries and remains in critical condition, police said. A second passenger, an 18-year-old male, received less serious injuries and is in stable condition.
“Police are investigating the cause of the collision, with speed believed to be a contributing factor,” the media release reads.
