
A Markham man is dead following a weekend boating accident south of Peterborough.
According to the OPP, emergency crews were called to assist around 7 a.m. Saturday (June 27) after a boat with three males on board lost control while travelling on Rice Lake near Wood Duck Drive.
The body of 41-year-old Tien Dat Tran was recovered at 3:15 p.m. the following day.
The two other men on board the boat were injured. One was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, while the other was transported by air ambulance to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.
“The cause of this accident remains under investigation,” reads a media release from the OPP.
