Lindsay man charged after allegedly trying to elude police

A Lindsay man is facing charges after allegedly speeding and attempting to elude the police.

According to the OPP, an officer was patrolling Sturgeon Road in the area of King’s Wharf Road around 3:20 p.m. Friday (June 26) when a vehicle was observed travelling well in excess of the posted limit of 80 km/h.

“The officer initiated a traffic stop however the driver failed to stop and continued along King’s Wharf Road and abandoned the vehicle in a nearby field,” reads a media release.

The driver was subsequently located with the assistance of the OPP’s Canine Unit a short time later and arrested.

Roger Roadhouse, 55, has been charged with dangerous operation, flight from police, race a motor vehicle – excessive speed, drive motor vehicle no currently validated permit, use plate not authorized for vehicle and operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

He is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Sept. 10.
