A Kirkfield man has been charged following a historical domestic abuse investigation by the South Simcoe Police Service.

According to a media release, the investigation began in March 2020 after a woman came forward to report incidents of abuse that occurred from 2011 to 2016 while living in Innisfil.

On Friday (June 26), detectives arrested a 35-year-old Kirkfield man and charged him with multiple counts of assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

His name has not been released to protect the identity of the victim.
