Unmarked cruiser, weapons stolen from officer’s driveway

Police in York Region are looking to track down an unmarked cruiser and weapons that were stolen from an officer’s driveway in Markham.

According to the York Regional Police, officers were called regarding the theft of a vehicle from a driveway in Markham around 7 a.m. Thursday (June 11).

“It was reported by a police officer with the Durham Regional Police Service who advised that the unmarked vehicle issued to him by the Ontario Provincial Police had been stolen from his driveway sometime overnight,” the media release reads.

“The investigation has revealed that the vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a residence in the area of Main Street Markham and Parkway Avenue on Thursday, June 11, 2020, shortly after 3 a.m.

The vehicle – a black 2016 Toyota Highlander with Ontario place BZND392 – contained a police-issued rifle, handgun, ammunition and two conductive energy weapons inside of a locked compartment.
