Police have identified the victim in Durham Region’s first homicide of 2020.

Kelvin Brown, 21, of Ajax was pronounced dead in hospital following a stabbing Thursday (June 4) afternoon.

According to the DRPS, officers were called to a home on Tams Drive in Ajax for a stabbing shortly before 1:30 p.m.

“Police located a male with serious injuries from being stabbed. The male was vital signs absent and taken by EMS to a local hospital. Two males were taken into custody at the scene,” reads a media release.

“It appears to be an isolated incident and there are no suspects at large.”

The following day, police announced that Nigel Ramlogan, 20, of Pickering has been charged with second degree murder.

He was held for a bail hearing.
