Police responding to reports of ‘suspicious vehicle’ in Pefferlaw

Update #2: Police posted this message on social media shortly after 4:30 p.m.
“Roads are open again near Old Homestead Road. The suspicious package was safely removed and was confirmed not to pose any type of safety concern. Thank you to the community for your patience and cooperation.”

Update: York Regional Police have clarified that the investigation is related to a suspicious package, not a suspicious vehicle.

Portions of two roads in Pefferlaw have been closed by police due to an ongoing investigation into a suspicious vehicle.

While few details have been released, a social media post from the York Regional Police shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday (June 2) notes that stretches of Old Homestead and Station roads have been both been closed.

“No immediate concerns for public safety. Please avoid area and find alternate route,” the post reads.

Several residents in the area have noted on social media that the matter appears to be related to a bomb threat though that has not been confirmed by police at this time.
