Cannabis, suspected purple Fentanyl allegedly seized following traffic stop in Kawartha Lakes

A Kawartha Lakes resident is facing a handful of charges after police allegedly seized cannabis and suspected purple Fentantyl following a traffic stop.

According to the OPP, officers responded to a call indicating that a vehicle was being operated in an erratic manner on Highway 35 near Long Beach Road around 6:45 Monday (June 1) morning.

“The vehicle was located and stopped with the ensuing investigation revealing the presence of approximately 50 grams of cannabis and 1.8 grams of suspected purple Fentanyl in the vehicle,” reads a media release.

Julianno Petrella, 21, has been charged fail to surrender licence, operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operate a motor vehicle without insurance, possession of a Schedule I substance – other drug and possession of over 30grams dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place.

He is scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Sept. 3.
