
A Markham man has been charged after police allegedly seized $500,000 worth of illegal cannabis following a traffic stop in Toronto.
According to the OPP, officers stopped the vehicle on Highway 401, near Avenue Road, around 11 a.m. on Monday (May 25) because the driver was spotted using a cell phone.
“As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with multiple drug offences. Approximately 105kg of cannabis was seized along with over $5000 in cash, cell phones and drug paraphernalia,” reads a media release.
Xue Zoe, 31, has been charged with drive – handheld communication device, drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, possession for the purpose of distributing, possession of proceeds obtained by crime – over $5000 and possession of illicit cannabis.
He was released from custody, police said.
