A man from Georgina has been identified as one of two people who died after a collision  in North Kawartha Township last week.

On May 7, at approximately 9:45 a.m., emergency crews responded to a collision between a tractor trailer and a car on Highway 28, south of Northey’s Bay Road. 

According to Peterborough County OPP, the driver and passenger of the car died of their injuries. They have been identified as 33-year-old Shane Simkins-Mather of Georgina and 34-year-old Travis Richardson of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia. 

The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. 

Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
