A youth in Kawartha Lakes has been charged with attempted murder following an altercation that resulted in another youth being airlifted to hospital.

According to the OPP, officers responded to a 911 call in the area of Kawartha Lakes Road 8 and East Beehive Road around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday (May 5).

“Initial investigation indicated that two youths had been involved in an altercation. One youth has been taken into custody,” reads a media release.

“One youth was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital and then later transported to a Toronto area hospital via Ornge ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.”

“The young person taken into custody has since been charged with attempt to commit murder, contrary to the Criminal Code.”

Police say the accused appeared in Lindsay court the following day to answer to the charge.

“No further information will be provided in order to protect the identity of the involved young persons,” the media release concludes.
