
Two people have been charged following multiple thefts from vehicles in Georgina.
According to the York Regional Police, officers were called to Brecken Drive for a report of a theft from a vehicle around 8 a.m. on Tuesday (May 5).
“Investigation revealed that overnight, several cars in the area had been entered and various items stolen,” reads a media release.
“Through video surveillance, investigators were able to identify two suspects who were already in custody from a previous incident that had occurred in the area earlier in the morning. In that incident officers had been called for a suspicious person. Upon police arrival officers observed two suspects who immediately fled hopping fences through various backyards. Both suspects were taken into custody after a foot pursuit and have since been charged.”
Lucas Ellis, 20, of Georgina has been charged with two counts of theft from motor vehicle under $5,000 and five counts of trespass by night.
A 17-year-old male youth from Georgina has been charged with three counts of theft from motor vehicle under $5,000, five counts of trespass by night, possession of property obtained by crime, six counts of fail to comply with release order, utter threats and mischief.
“Investigators believe that there may have been additional thefts from other vehicles in the area of Brecken Drive, but may not have been reported to police. If there were items stolen from your vehicle in that area, please come forward to report,” reads a media release.
