Durham Region man facing a dozen charges following police investigation in Peterborough

A 22-year-old man from Durham Region is facing a dozen charges following an investigation by police in Peterborough.

On Saturday (April 25), police reportedly received information regarding several incidents of domestic assault and mischief spanning from early 2017 to late April 2020 involving the accused and the female victim.

“The incidents included reports of the victim being assaulted with a weapon and the accused damaging the victim’s property,” reads a media release.

Officers located the accused in Peterborough later in the day and he was arrested and charged with five counts of domestic assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and five counts of mischief under $5,000.

The accused – whose name has not been released to protect the identity of the victim – was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 2.
