Firefighters from Brock, Georgina and Ramara responded to a large brush fire in the Port Bolster area Saturday (April 25) afternoon.
According to Brock Township Fire Chief Rick Harrison, the blaze broke out on a property on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) south of the hamlet around 1 p.m.
It took roughly three hours to extinguish the blaze, which covered roughly 10 to 12 acres.
“Crews did an excellent job preventing the fire from entering a thick wooded area. Fire was in off the road and could only be accessed via walking which hampered a quick extinguishment,” Chief Harrison said.
He noted that the fire may have been related to an illegal burn in the area.
“No burning is permitted in Brock Township at this time,” Chief Harrison said.
