As many as 60 students from Thorah Central have an opportunity to take part in a virtual meet-and-greet with Zach Hyman of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The students earned the prize through EverFi, an online learning portal that offers a pair of programs in partnership with the NHL and players’ union.
“They study the math and science of sport,” said teacher Willena Harrison.
Junior and intermediate classes at the school began taking part in the programs, earning the meet-and-greet as an incentive. It’s scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday (April 24).
“We are so grateful for the opportunity. I highly recommend other schools pilot the program. Not because of the amazing incentives but also because of the high caliber of programming for the students,” Harrison said.
