A man from Peterborough faces charges after police responded to a call about a vehicle being driven erratically on Simcoe Street in Kawartha Lakes.
Just before 10 a.m. on April 18, officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call of a potentially impaired driver.
According to police, initial information indicated a single vehicle had entered a ditch near Sonya. As officers were on their way to the scene, they were advised the vehicle had exited the ditch and proceeded northbound on Simcoe Street. It was reported the vehicle’s tires had been damaged while the operator continued to drive erratically.
Police say the vehicle was found in the Woodville area and arrested the driver without incident.
Shane Walsh, 39, of Peterborough is charged with driving while under suspension, dangerous operation, operation while prohibited, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
The vehicle was towed from the scene to be impounded for 45 days. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 18.
