Not surprisingly, the start of the minor baseball season has been postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With area parks closed – and likely to remain that way through next month – the volunteer board of the Victoria-Brock Baseball Association (VBBA) will continue to monitor the situation and plan accordingly.
“We do not have a date as to when the parks will open to even consider when the season may begin. As a result, the VBBA is postponing the start of the ball season until further notice,” reads a statement on the organization’s website.
“The executive will speak again near the end of April to further discuss if and when we may be able to start the season. Between now and then, we will continue to update with anything that we receive to keep our baseball and softball community up to date with how COVID-19 will be affecting us.”
The organization is encouraging all players and coaches to adhere to all of the social distancing guidelines recommended by health officials.
“The safety of our communities is much more important than the start of a ball season at this point in time,” the statement reads.
