There are now 531 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Durham Region.

The update from the Durham Region Health Department Friday (April 17) afternoon saw the total jump from 496.

There have been 151 cases in Ajax, 149 in Pickering, 108 in Oshawa, 63 in Whitby, 43 in Clarington, 12 in Uxbridge and five in Scugog. There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brock Township at this time.

A total of 289 residents are currently in home isolation, with 26 currently hospitalized.

Forty deaths – including 29 at long-term care and retirement homes – have been attributed to COVID-19.

A total of 176 cases have been resolved.
