A man is facing charges following an alleged machete attack against a family member at a home in Oshawa Monday (April 6).
According to the DRPS, officers were called to a home in the area of Adelaide Avenue West and Thornton Road North in Oshawa for an aggravated assault around 6 p.m.
“The suspect who didn’t reside at the residence, confronted the family member and attacked him with a machete,” reads a social media post.
“The struggle continued until neighbors attended and helped to hold the suspect upon police arrival.”
Officers located a 56-year-old male who had serious but non-life threatening injuries after being hit with the machete. The suspect was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.
The suspect – a 36-year-old male of no fixed address – has been charged with aggravated assault, two counts of fail to comply with probation, weapons dangerous and assault with a weapon.
He was held for a bail hearing.
