
Police are searching for a suspect after a routine traffic stop in Beaverton resulted in the seizure of more than $20,000 worth of cash and drugs.
According to the DRPS, an officer on routine patrol stopped a vehicle believed to be driven by a suspended driver near Maple Beach Road and Garden Gate in Beaverton around 9:30 p.m. Saturday (April 4).
“He approached the female driver and detected a strong odour of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. He ordered the female driver and a male passenger out of the vehicle, and during the investigation, the male passenger suddenly ran away,” reads a media release.
“An officer gave chase, but the male was able to escape. Inside the vehicle, officers located over $6,300 in cash, about $14,150 in Fentanyl and cocaine, along with cellphones and a weigh scale.”
Police say an arrest warrant is being sought for 23-year-old Newmarket man who will be charged with possess Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, escape lawful custody of a peace officer and fail to attend court.
