Lindsay woman charged after alleged break-in, assault with vacuum

A woman has been charged after allegedly breaking into a family member’s home in Lindsay and attacking them with a vacuum cleaner.

According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, the break-in occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday (April 4).

“Once inside, the woman assaulted a family member with a vacuum cleaner.  The woman then smashed a television and began damaging other property inside the home,” reads a media release.

“The victim of the assault was able to telephone 911 and members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to the home.”

The victim was treated at hospital for minor injuries, police said.

The woman has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, break and enter and mischief to property under $5,000.

She is slated to appear in Lindsay court on June 11.

Her name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim, who was treated at hospital for minor injuries.
