Brock Township issues COVID-19 update (March 31)

The Township of Brock is extending the closure of all our facilities, indoor and outdoor, indefinitely as well as extending the burn ban until further notice, as part of our ongoing efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Closures include Foster Hewitt Memorial Community Centre, Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre, Sunderland Memorial Arena, Wilfrid Hall, Sunderland Town Hall, Manilla Hall, and Beaverton Town Hall (with the exception of the Service Ontario office).

All playground structures and park amenities, including sports fields, skate parks, walking trails (Beaverton Lions Walking Loop & Sunderland Lions Walking Trail), parking lots, basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic shelters, splash pads, beaches (including the Beaverton Harbour & pier), boat launch, and boat docks will be closed until further notice. Green spaces in parks and throughout the Township, that aren’t otherwise closed would remain open for walkthrough access, but individuals must maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others. Additional details on the harbour and parking lot closures will be released in the next day or two. Appropriate signage and barricades will be erected over the next couple of days.

The Township’s spring fitness programs have been cancelled until further notice and registration for summer programs and day camp is on hold until further notice. Bookings for all Township facilities are suspended until May 25, 2020.

All public meetings and open houses will also be suspended. Council and Committee of the Whole of the Meetings will continue, however, they will be held electronically. The public questions & clarification and delegations sections of the agenda have been suspended until further notice. Public can live stream the meetings.

The Township Municipal Administration Building is open but closed to visitors as we take measures to protect our staff and the public. It is operating with skeleton staff , with the majority of staff working from home. Staff are available to assist you via email or phone during our regular office hours, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Township has put together a list of the public services that will be provided during this time. Click here to view the list.

The Township of Brock will assess our position once we have a better understanding of how long we are going to continue to operate in this modified fashion.

We recognize the impact that this decision will have on families and our facility users, but this precaution is necessary to help keep people safe. The situation with COVID-19 is rapidly changing, and we will continue to adjust our operations according to the recommendations of health authorities. Any questions on closures and cancellations please email .
