
Two Kawartha Lakes Police Service constables are self-isolating after potentially being exposed to COVID-19 during an incident that occurred on Saturday (March 28).
According to a media release, the two officers may have been exposed during the arrest of a man for a domestic assault.
“The two officers were members of the uniform branch of the Kawartha Lake Police Service at the time of the incident, but were removed from duty following their interaction with the accused,” the media release reads.
“The officers will remain off-duty in self isolation while they are tested for COVID-19.”
Police say the man was later charged with assault, mischief to property under $5,000, break and enter, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance of bail.
The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
