Lindsay man charged in connection to two incidents in one day

A man from Lindsay faces charges after police responded to two separate incidents in the same day.

At 7:20 a.m. Thursday (March 19), Kawartha Lakes Police say a man was seen removing tools from an unoccupied pick-up truck parked on William Street North in Lindsay. The owner of the truck confronted the man who allegedly fled the area immediately.

The truck owner notified police who reportedly found the suspect a few streets away. He was arrested and charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. The man was then released from custody.

Just before 12 p.m. that same day, police were called to a retail store on Kent Street West after a man was detained by store security for allegedly trying to defraud the business. When officers arrived they discovered the man was the same person who had been charged in the incident earlier that morning.

Following an investigation at the store, the man was charged with fraud under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Joshua Wicks, 37, of Lindsay will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 21 to answer to the charges for both incidents.
