A Lindsay man was allegedly found to be in possession of a controlled substance while being arrested for theft Monday (March 2).
According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, an employee of a store on Russell Street West in Lindsay observed a man leave the business with property he had not purchased around 4 p.m.
The man was followed from the store by the employee, who also called police to report the theft.
“An officer located the man a short distance away and arrested him,” reads a media release.
“Further investigation revealed that the man had a controlled substance in his possession.”
Troy Wayne McCarty, 48, has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order.
He is scheduled to appear in court on April 2.
