Township launches public survey on cannabis growth in advance of bylaw

With a bylaw surrounding the growth and production of cannabis on the table, Brock Township is reaching out to residents.

The municipality has launched a 10-question survey, which will be available online until March 5, prior to a public meeting and consideration of the bylaw.

“The intention of this by-law is to direct the production and processing of Cannabis to industrially zoned lands where impacts can and will be mitigated. In the rural areas, only micro-cultivation is proposed to be permitted, which means buildings for producing or cultivating cannabis can’t be larger than 200 square metres,” reads a notice from the Township.

The public meeting will be held on April 6 at the municipal office in Cannington at 6:30 p.m.

A staff report on that session will be discussed on May 4 during the regularly-scheduled committee of whole meeting at 9:30 a.m., followed by consideration of the bylaw on May 25.
